Sites divided by DESNZ’s estimated household count. This adjusts for area size; it is not the percentage of homes with solar. Equal values share a rank.

Solar: DESNZ Regional Renewable Statistics
Source release: 29 September 2026. Data: end of 2025; trend: 2020–25. Checked for this SunBru snapshot on 6 October 2026. Extracted from “LA - Sites” and “LA - Capacity” worksheets, joining by official council code. All 32 Scottish areas are included. The Scottish summary shown here sums these 32 rows.
Density = solar sites ÷ estimated households × 1,000. Household estimates are taken as supplied in the DESNZ workbook, whose notes reference ONS household estimates. They are a comparison denominator, not a count of homes fitted with panels. Growth = (2025 sites − 2024 sites) ÷ 2024 sites × 100. Changes can include revisions, so they are not a count of installations completed during the year.
Homes, businesses and larger solar sites are included. Housing type, roof suitability, geography and large developments affect comparisons. This league does not measure council effort, installation quality or household savings. Ranks use unrounded values; figures displayed in the table are rounded.

Battery: coverage still to be completed
The DESNZ battery release of 28 May 2026 was checked. It covers MCS-certified domestic retrofit installations and excludes commercial and new-build properties; its tables do not provide local-authority totals. Battery fields remain blank in the download. Solar and battery series should not be added together as a count of unique properties.
Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. SunBru’s rankings are independently calculated, not endorsed by DESNZ or any council. This snapshot does not update automatically. The September 2026 release revises earlier years; the 2024 baseline here comes from the same workbook as 2025, rather than the previous SunBru snapshot.
